For Model 60 customers that were not satisfied with a maximum disk capacity of 2x40Mbyte, there was a variant that came with the ESDI controller and 70MB drive known from the Model 80. Otherwise, the machine was the same, so a -041 was upgradable to a -071.

In terms of cabling, there is no difference between ST506 and ESDI: each disk has its own data cable, and a control cable connects both disks to the controller. The 0667 drives look exactly like the 40 Mbyte ST506 drives, you have to look at the labels - or note that the ESDI transfer rate is about twice as high...

A detail that shows that this is not a first-generation machine: older Model 60 and 80 cases had two feet that could be swung out, but IBM replaced the rear one with two small fixed feet in the later models. For users that knew the older models, there is a large label stating that nothing is missing :-)
