IBM PS/2 Model 80-A21

This is the high-end 386-based Model 80. With a 25 MHz processor and additional 64 Kbytes of cache, it is about 2 times as fast as the older 20 MHz version.

IBM introduced new 4M memory modules with the 25 MHz version. They are also usable on the 20 MHz version of the Model 80. On the other hand, the 25 MHz version absolutely needs these modules, older modules give a '225' error :-/

A closer look onto the CPU. The large ceramic beast next to the CPU is the Intel 82385 cache controller. In contrast to the 25 MHz Model 70, CPU, FPU, and cache are fully integrated on the main board. I'm curious to see a 486-based model 80...
