Please contact Product Support if you encounter a problem during installation. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 1.1 Installing for Windows 95 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- UPGRADEING OR REMOVING A PREVIOUS VERSION OF THE MWAVE DRIVERS If you have a previous version of the software on your PC, want to upgrade/ reinstall or remove it, follow these steps: 1. Place diskette #1 in your floppy drive. 2. Click Start and RUN. 3. Type a:\setup and OK. 4. When the software has completed removing the existing version, you will be prompted to either choose upgrade or to remove the adapter card from your system. If you are removing the software from your system, the install will return you to the desk top and instruct you to power off and unplug your PC, at which time you can remove your adapter card. If this is an upgrade, then the install will reboot your machine, at which time you can continue the installation process from step #5 in the installation (below). Follow the installation process to completion. 5. The NEW HARDWARE FOUND window appears with the option to select the driver you want to install. Select "Driver from disk provided by hardware manufacturer" and click OK. 6. The INSTALL FROM DISK window appears. Insert Disk #1 in your floppy drive and click OK. (If the disk location is other than the default drive (A:\) change the designation before clicking OK.) 7. Follow installation instructions. After the final disk is loaded, Windows 95 displays screens enumerating the new hardware. 8. Once the Windows 95 desk top is displayed, a secondary install will launch automatically creating a folder. 9. Remove the diskette when prompted. 10. The hardware is now installed and fuctional. NOTE: Users NOT located in the US must run the Country Selection Application AFTER installation. Reboot ater running the Country Selection Application. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 1.2 Installing MIDI Samples for Windows 95 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- To install MIDI Samples: 1. Close all open programs. 2. Insert disk 1 of the MIDI Samples in your floppy drive. 3. Click Start 4. Click Run 5. Type a:\setup in the OPEN window 6. Click OK 7. Choose the path in which to install the samples. We recommend using the default path. 8. You will be asked if you want your DOS MWave MIDI Synthesizer to use this set of MIDI samples. Click Yes. 9. You will be asked if you want the Windows MWave MIDI Synthesizer to use this set of MIDI samples. Click Yes. 10. You will be asked the same question as in step 8. Answer Yes again. 11. As the install progresses, you will be prompted to insert diskettes 2 and 3. Do this when prompted. Click OK to continue. 12. When the installation is complete, you will see a box reminding you to restart you system. Click OK. 13. Shut down and restart your system. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 1.3 Turning OFF and ON in DOS ---------------------------------------------------------------------- NOTE: The following section applies when you shutdown or boot to - Native DOS only from Windows 3.x - MS-DOS mode only from Windows 95 If you are running under DOS only, type the following command from the DOS prompt: o FASTCFG-To change application types ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 1.4 Selective Disable in Windows 95 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- To use a different audio, modem, or Sound Blaster card than provided, you must uninstall the features before installing the substitute card. To uninstall the features, perform the following steps: o Click START o Point to SETTINGS o Click Control Panel o Double-click System o Click the Device Manager tab o Click the "Plus" sign next to the device you want to uninstall o Click on the device o Click Properties o Click on the check next to "Original Configuration (Current)" in the Device Usage box. This disables the device. o Click OK o Click Close o Reboot the system NOTE: To reinstall the device, simply replace the check in the Device Usage box.
