DISK21GB.EXE This program should be used if you have a 2.1 GB Drive installed. This diskette is to be used if you have an Aptiva 2136 and a 2.1GB Drive and you have seen problems like ScanDisk errors, bad sectors, lost clusters, etc… Instructions: This diskette only needs to be run once. Place the diskette created into the diskette drive. 2. Restart the machine. a. Click on Start, Shutdown, Restart the Computer. b. Click OK. 3. After the diskette completes the update, remove the diskette and restart. When the system boots to the Windows 95 desktop, run ScanDisk. (Click on Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools, ScanDisk.) If ScanDisk reports any errors, like bad clusters, you will need to format the hard drive and reload. If no errors are reported, you are finished! Steps for reloading: Please Note: Any personal files placed on the hard drive will be LOST. Backup all data before continuing. Backup any personal files that you have placed on the hard drive (c: drive). (You can do this by clicking on the file with the RIGHT mouse button and choosing "Send To" the 3 1/2 Floppy (A) and place a diskette in the diskette drive. Copy all of your files before continuing. Place the Product Recovery CD in the CD-ROM Drive and click on Start, Shutdown, Restart the Computer, and OK. When the system restarts, answer all of the questions on the screen with a "y" for yes or an "n" for no. The CD will format the drive and reload all original Aptiva files onto the computer. After running setup, run ScanDisk again. If any bad sectors, or lost clusters are reported, replace the hard drive. The hard drive can be replaced by calling 1-800-772-2227 or by taking the system to a local IBM servicer. Call your place of purchase and ask if they can service your system.
