Insert card (Details) --------------------------------------------------------------------------- OVERVIEW: Windows NT should automatically detect the presence of the 33.6 Modem PC Card when it is inserted into the PCMCIA slot. Details: From the Windows NT desktop: * Shutdown the system and power off * Insert the card * Bring up Windows NT * Double-Click "My computer" * Double-Click "Control Panel" * Double-Click "PCMCIA" * A window displaying the card name should appear. * Double-Click "PCMCIA 33.6/14.4 Modem" * Note the com port this modem is mapped to for use during Modem installation.. 2. Installing Modem (Details) --------------------------------------------------------------------------- OVERVIEW: After Windows NT has detected the 33.6 Modem PC Card you will need to install a new modem. Details: From the Windows NT desktop: * Double-Click "My Computer" * Double-Click "Control Panel" * Double-Click "Modems" * Select the "Add.." tab * Select "don't detect my modem; I will select it from a list" * Click next * Select the "Have disk" tab * Insert the product diskette into your diskette drive * Ensure that drive selection (A:) is correct * Click "OK" * Select the "IBM PCMCIA 33.6+14.4 Data+Fax Modem" * Click next * Select the port your modem card is using. * Use the port you noted from above in Inserting card * Click next * Fill in your location information * Click next * Select "Finish" tab This completes successful installation of the 33.6 Modem PC Card. For further configuration of protocol stacks, modem application programs, and so on, please refer to the documentation supplied by the application vendor. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- CELLULAR Section --------------------------------------------------------------------------- The 33.6 Modem PC Card may be used in cellular mode with the additional of a cellular upgrade kit and a cellular phone. The installation files that come with the 33.6 Modem PC Card use default settings that should allow the card to work with any cellular phone supported by your cellular upgrade kit. 1. Consult the terminal application's (e.g. QuickLink II) users guide to locate methods for updating the initialization string. 2. Add AT-sec=1,nn (nn = number of specific phone) to the end of the initialization string. This change will be required for each non-TAPI application.
