Version 1.1 3/28/98 These drivers for your IBM 56K Modem Internet Kit (42H4321) will: - Add support for the ITU-T V.90 56K draft standard - Maintain support for the earlier x2 56K protocol - Add DOS-box support ---------- About these drivers ----------------------- Your IBM 56K Modem (42H4321) is software upgradeable. To upgrade to the V.90 draft standard you will need to uninstall the previous modem drivers, then reinstall the modem with these new drivers. To make V.90 connections, the modem requires that you connect to a V.90 compatible service provider, and have an analog phone connection through the phone system that makes no more than one analog to digital transition. If these requirements are not met, the modem will attempt to make an x2 connection. If that fails, the modem will attempt to make a V.34 connection (up to 33.6Kbps speed). NOTE: The modem must installed and properly working before attempting the driver update. Also end any communications applications that may be using the modem before starting the update. There is no need to physically remove the modem to upgrade to the V.90 standard. Please READ ALL THE INSTRUCTIONS before beginning the upgrade.
