IBM ThinkPad March 29, 1999 MPEG Features IV for Windows 98 Version 1.02 ====================================================== What This Package Does ----------------------- The accompanying MPEG Features can enable or update the MPEG function in the ThinkPad system. The following models are supported: - ThinkPad 770X/770Z NOTE: This drivers should only be used if you are using Mediamatics DVDExpress application to play DVD movies. If you are using the SoftDVD application to play DVD movies, DO NOT install this drivers. To determine whether you have to update the program, refer to "Summary of Changed and Fixed Items." To update the program, refer to the "Installation Guide." Installation Guide ------------------ Note: - Use this driver only for the ThinkPad 770X,770Z. - Before installing, make sure that you have installed the following software in the computer: - Video Features IV for Windows 98 - Audio Features for Windows 98 - DVDExpress Player for Windows 98 - This driver will now automatically extract to your hard drive. It will only extract under Windows 95/98 and Windows NT. The extraction process will NOT work with any other operating system. 1. Make sure that your system has the DVD and Enhanced Video Adapter installed in the system. 2. Start Windows 98. 3. Extract the drivers onto the hard disk. 4. Click on Start -> Settings -> Control Panel. 5. Open System, and click on the Device Manager tab. 6. If you are installing this program for the first time, double-click on Other devices and then PCI Multimedia Device. Otherwise, double- click on Sound, video and game controllers, and IBM DVD decoder card. 7. Click on the Driver tab. 8. Click on Update Driver... 9. Click on Next. 10. Select the "Display a list of all the drivers in a specific location, so you can select the driver you want" radio button, and click on Next. 11. If the device being installed is listed as a PCI multimedia device, select Sound, video and game controllers. Specify a location by pressing Have Disk... 12. Specify the directory where the driver files are extracted. Default path is C:\DRIVERS\W9X\MPEG Then click on the 'OK' button. A device list appears. 13. Select IBM DVD decoder card, and click on Next. 14. Click on Next again in the window that shows the full path to DVD.inf. The computer starts to install the MPEG driver. Follow the instructions on the screen. 15. After completing the installation, click on Finish, Close, and OK to close the Device Manager window. 16. Restart the system.
