IBM ThinkPad 570 June 28, 1999 System Program Service Diskette Version 1.03 (imet45ww) ======================================================================= What This Diskette Does ----------------------- The System Program Service Diskette given here can update the system program stored in the ThinkPad system to fix problems, add new functions, or expand functions. The supported models are as follows. - ThinkPad 570 (Note) This system program can only be installed to ThinkPad 570 models. It can not be installed to other models. To determine if you have to update the system program or not, please refer to the "Summary of Change" section. To update the system program, please refer to the "Updating System Program" section. Released Versions ----------------- Version 1.00 (imet39ww) (Initial Release) A fix for some problems Version 1.02 (imet43ww) A fix for problem as noted below Version 1.03 (imet45ww) A fix for problem as noted below Summary of Change ----------------- Key: Diskette Version (for example, 1.00 means Version 1.00) (New) New Function or Enhancement (Fix) Correction to existing function <1.00 - imet39ww> (Fix) - When using the modem while connected to a 570 UltraBase in battery mode, the system may hang. <1.00a imet40ww> - (Fix) System halt occures when using certain pair of PC-cards simultaneously while attached to the UltraBase. <1.01 imet41ww> - (Fix) System halt occures when using certain pair of PC-cards simultaniously while attached to the UltraBase. - (Fix) Password prompt not displayed when CMOS data corrupted. <1.02 - imet43ww> - (Fix) PCMCIA card in the Port Replicator with Advanced EtherJet Feature does not work after Hot docking or warm docking - (Fix) Power Mode changes made by pressing Fn+F11 are not saved after shutting down or restarting the system - (Fix) Remote IPL does not work with IBM Auto 16/4 Credit Card Adapter - (Fix) Enhancement to the PowerOn Password Function - (Fix) When the Fn+F3 key is pressed twice, the LCD does not come back by pressing any key - (Fix) Boot from the Ethernet in Port Replicator does not work after reboot - (Fix) Unnecessary message, Error 280, Previous Boot Fail, appears when system is powered off during POST <1.03 - imet45ww> - (Fix) CardBus cards are not detected during PowerOn or after Suspend/Resume - (Fix) UMA reports the temperature alert at invalid temperature - (Fix) After Hot/warm docking, system will hang during reboot - (Fix) System will hang after resuming from hibernation mode if the system was hibernated while the password prompt was displayed - (Fix) Password Prompt ICON is sometime is broken at RI resume Updating System Program ----------------------- Notes: - You need an AC adapter and a charged battery pack to update the system program. - If your computer is attached to any kinds of Docking station or port replicator, turn off the computer and detach it before proceeding. 1. Print these instructions or display on another computer. 2. Firmly connect the AC adapter to the computer. 3. Insert the System Program Service Diskette into the diskette drive and turn on the computer. 4. Select "Read this first..." from the menu and carefully read the information that appears. 5. Press the Esc key to return to the menu. 6. Select "Update system program" and follow the instruction on the screen. Warning: Do not turn off or suspend the computer until the update has been completed. IF YOU TURN OFF OR SUSPEND THE COMPUTER WHILE THE UPDATE IS STILL IN PROGRESS, THE SYSTEM BOARD MAY HAVE TO BE REPLACED. After the update has been completed, do the following to make the changes effective. 7. Make sure the System Program Service Diskette is removed from the diskette drive, then turn off the computer. 8. Turn on the computer. The system enters IBM BOIS Setup Utility automatically. 9. If a password prompt appears, type the correct password. 10. Press F9 key. 11. Select "Yes" to load default configuration.
