1.2MB format diskette in the external FDD can't be read. - Some printers may not work. - Ethernet remote IPL can't be done. - PCMCIA hard disk can't be booted up when more than three IDE/SCSI hard disk drives are attached to the system. - CD-ROM data in the internal CD-ROM drive may be corrupted when CD-ROM reading or CD-ROM to hard disk copying (755CD only). - Power-on or resume operation can be done even if the keyboard is raised. - Resume operation can't be completed when any keys are depressed during the resume. - The mouse (TrackPoint) hangs when the Power-on Password is set. - The serial or parallel data transfer fails when the SMI (System Management Interrupt) is generated. - The percentage of remaining power of Fuel-Gauge program may become over 100 % at the full charge. - The power source (AC Adapter or Battery) indicator of Fuel-Gauge program is not changed when the AC Adapter is attached. - The pop-up low battery warning message by ThinkPad feature doesn't appear when the remaining power of battery becomes low. - Battery discharge information becomes invalid when the keyboard is raised to go into the partial suspend. - The 'Resume on timer' is not performed when 'Resume on incoming call' is disabled in the ThinkPad feature. - The TrackPoint may hang on resume. - The screen may become blank when the system resumes normal operation from hibernation mode (STN color panel only). - A graphical hibernation message is not displayed when a specific PS/Value Point CRT monitor is attached and the system goes into the hibernation mode (STN color panel only). - The mouse (TrackPoint) hangs at suspend/resume operation when unattended resume is performed. - The screen may intermittently become blank when the system resumes normal operation from the suspend mode at the low temperature (STN color panel only). - The screen becomes blank when the LCD/external display switching key (Fn+F7 key) is continuously pressed very much many times. - The hard disk data may be corrupted when docked with the Dock-I with some video adapter cards installed. - The system may resume normal operation immediately when the system goes into the suspend mode (755CD only). - Suspend timer, Stand-by timer and Hibernation timer are performed later than the setup value (the timers are delayed). - Resume operation can't be done when both an AC adapter and an external keyboard are attached. - The spindle motor of PCMCIA hard disk drive doesn't stop when the system goes into the suspend mode. - The system hangs when the system goes into the safe suspend mode, and goes into the hibernation mode by the hibernation timer, and then powered on. - The password prompt appears twice when the system resumes normal operation by 'Resume on incoming call' or 'Resume on timer'. - (Date/Time Menu in Easy-Setup) A small bug in the Year set in the Date/Time panel. - (Test Menu in Easy-Setup) The Display Diag has the wrong message of 80x25x16 9x16 pattern. - (Test Menu in Easy-Setup) Error log isn't printed out during the DSP Diag (Advanced Diag mode). - (Test Menu in Easy-Setup) The arrow keys don't work correctly on the Diag panel. - (Test Menu in Easy-Setup) The screen becomes blue in the Display Diag. <1.01> - (New) Support Pentium processor upgrade kit. <1.20> - (New) Support 755CX/CV/CDV. - IBM Auto-ISA Token Ring card does not work. - COM3/COM4 with FIFO does not work after resuming normal operation. <1.30> - (New) Support Windows 95 (beta version) Plug and Play. - Under the DOS and OS/2 dual boot feature, OS/2 CD-ROM device driver can't detect the CD-ROM drive attached in OS/2 mode, if the CD-ROM sleep mode is once entered in the DOS mode. - CDPD adapter does not work. - (Test Menu in Easy-Setup) The system hangs when CTRL+K keys are pressed while the cursor is moving. <1.40> - (New) Support Windows 95. - (New) Support ThinkPad 755CX with VGA LCD model. - Year of date doesn't become 2000 after 1999. - The cursor on the screen of ISO compliant monitor has flickers (755CSE only). - Mwave error messages may appear on the DOS screen if Mwave DSP is disabled. (This depends on the version of Mwave drivers.) - If Mwave modem is disabled, the SCSI IRQ of Dock-II can't be changed to other than IRQ 11 in the Dock-II's SCSI Select utility. - RPL can't be made from the PCMCIA Token-Ring card installed in Dock-II when a PCMCIA ATA drive is installed in ThinkPad. - The cursor on the screen of ISO compliant monitor has flickers (755CSE only). - (Password Menu in Easy-Setup) When the supervisor password is changed after the POST 159 error (The hard-disk password differs from the supervisor password) is displayed, the hard-disk password is overridden by the supervisor password, which should not be changed. <1.41> - The serial or parallel port data communication is sometimes broken, or the modem/fax communication can't be established correctly - The screen of external CRT attached the video card which is installed in Dock-I or Dock-II may be frozen in the graphic mode. (The screen may be frozen when Windows initial logo screen appears.) - A part of Windows* 95 APM HCT doesn't pass. - In Windows 95, the system can't go into suspend mode when 'Standard' option is selected in the power management setting of ˛My Computerˇ-˛Control Panelˇ-˛Power Managementˇ. <1.43> - (Fix) Intermittent keyboard hang up problem when external mouse is connected. <1.44> - (Fix) A small amount (8KB) of data could be overwritten and lost under the following circumstances: - Hibernation is Enabled. - There is data present on the last cylinder of the Hard Disk Drive. This Is the last area on the drive to be used, but may contain user data if the drive has been full or contains very large files. - The ThinkPad actually enters Hibernation mode by pressing Fn-F12 or by customized power management options. NOTE: - The problem does not occur when creating the Hibernation file. - It only occurs when the ThinkPad actually enters Hibernation mode. - Only 2.1GB Hard Disk has this problem. There is no problem with other hard disks currently available from IBM. Updating System Program ----------------------- Notes: - You need an AC adapter and a charged battery pack to update the system program. - If your computer is attached to a ThinkPad Dock I, Dock II or a port replicator, turn off the computer and detach it before proceeding. 1. Print these instructions or display on another computer. 2. Firmly connect the AC adapter to the computer. 3. Insert the System Program Service Diskette into the diskette drive and turn on the computer. 4. Select "Read this first..." from the menu and carefully read the information that appears. 5. Press the Esc key to return to the menu. 6. Select "Update system program" and follow the instruction on the screen. Warning: Do not turn off or suspend the computer until the update has been completed. IF YOU TURN OFF OR SUSPEND THE COMPUTER WHILE THE UPDATE IS STILL IN PROGRESS, THE SYSTEM BOARD MAY HAVE TO BE REPLACED. After the update has been completed, do the following to make the changes effective. 7. Make sure the System Program Service Diskette is removed from the diskette drive, then turn off the computer. 8. Press and hold the F1 key, then turn on the computer. Hold the F1 key until the Easy-Setup menu appears. 9. If a password prompt appears, type the correct password. 10. Select Config, then select Initialize. 11. Select OK to initialize the system. Run the diagnostics to make sure that the computer runs with no errors: 12. Turn off the computer, press and hold the F1 key, then turn on the computer. Hold the F1 key until the Easy-Setup menu appears. 13. Select Test, then select Start to run all the basic tests. Various test patterns will appear on the screen. An OK will appear for each device that passes the test. 14. Verify that OK appears for all of the devices tested. 15. Press the Esc key to exit Test and turn off the computer.
