YPTF$049 May 23, 1997 PC Card Director for Windows 95(**) Update for 3.3V/5V PCMCIA Card Support ========================================================================== This package enables the use of 3.3V/5V PCMCIA cards in Windows 95 environment. Only 5V PCMCIA cards are supported until this release. This update applies to the following models. - ThinkPad 760E/ED/EL/ELD. Following cards were verified to work with this update. - SanDisk(**) SDP3B - IO DATA(**) PCCF-4M Note: If you use the following PCMCIA card, please continue to use the current PC Card Director for Windows 95(**). - IBM PCMCIA ThinkPad File 2.5MB P/N 1619682 FRU P/N 48G9898 - IBM PCMCIA ThinkPad File 5MB P/N 1619683 FRU P/N 48G9899 - IBM PCMCIA ThinkPad File 10MB P/N 1619684 FRU P/N 48G9900 - IBM PCMCIA ThinkPad File 15MB P/N 1619685 FRU P/N 49G0000 Procedure to add 3.3V/5V PCMCIA card support: 1. Ensure the system is booted to the Windows 95 desk top. 2. Extract the package onto the hard drive. 3. Click on Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> System. 4. Select Device Manager tab. Click the + sign for PCMCIA Socket. 5. Select "PCI or compatible PCMCIA controller on IBM System". If this is not the exact wording, you must first enable the IBM PC Card Director support (skip to next procedure). 6. Click properties, Driver, Change Driver, Have Disk... 7. Type C:\DRIVERS\W95\PCMCIA, click OK and follow the instructions. If Following window appears, please input C:\DRIVERS\W95\PCMCIA at the column Copy files from: The file IBMCSS01.VXD on Windows 95 Disk 1 could not be found. Insert Windows 95 Disk 1 into the driver selected below, and click OK. Procedure to enable IBM PC Card Director (perform these steps only if instructed to do so in step 4 above): 1. Select the controller driver by clicking on it (for example it may be listed as PCI or compatible controller) 2. Click the Properties button 3. Click on the Driver tab 4. Click on the Change Driver button 5. In the list of Models, find PCI or compatible PCMCIA controller on IBM system and click on it 6. Click on the OK button. This will change the driver. Now select OK to close all open windows and respond with Yes if prompted to restart the system. 7. Now return to the start of the procedure to add dual voltage card support NOTE: If the driver is NOT included in the list of step 5, refer to your User Guide and install PC Card Director for Windows 95. After these drivers are installed, go back to the start of the procedure to add dual voltage card support.
