Device Type

Analog Turntable

Start of Sale

1981

General Description

In its design very similar to the RS 100, the RS 200 offers a lot of the features and goodies the RS 100 lacks: a direct-driven chassis, full-automatic start and stop, a repeat function, a heavier turntable, and a better pickup system. The pickup carriers are 100% interchangeable between the RS 100 and RS 200.

The RS 200 was also available as RS 220 CX with a built-in CX decoder.

Full Automatic, direct-driven, automatic repeated play, pitch control, low-mass pickup system.

Common Failures

It's difficult to make a photo of it, but believe me: The RS 200's spindle bearing is extremely sensitive to mechanical shocks and easily breaks. Symptom of such a failure is a turntable that doesn't want to spin and is even hard to turn by hand. This mostly happens when the player is being shipped with the turntable not taken off: its weight of more than 1 kilogram gnerates such mechanical shocks that the bearing breaks apart. I have no clue how to fix this, and therefore you should always transport the RS 200 with the turntable taken off!!!
